Topic: Webmail sets incorrect mime types?

The Horde webmail application on our SME 7.2 server seems to set the mime-type for attachments incorrectly. For instance, office documents attached using webmail get the type text/plain, sometimes causing them to be opened in a text-editor on the recipient side.

I remember reading about similar problems on the forum some time ago, but can't find it anymore. Does anyone know what could be causing this, and how to solve it? We've just switched to PHP 5, but as far as I know the mime-type thing has been a problem on our server for quite some time...

Please clarify:

office documents attached using webmail

Do you mean that if you attach a .doc document to a message from within webmail and send it with webmail that the recipient gets the wrong mime type

OR

Do you mean a message in webmail sent by someone else with a .doc attachment has the wrong mime type.

As far as I know, the first. The problem seems to be with documents sent from within the webmail.
However, I just tested it (using Firefox 2.0 on my Ubuntu system), and the attached Excel file got the correct MIME-type. Hmm. Yet I keep getting these reports of incorrect MIME-types on office docs from people who use the webmail regularly (usually from Windows). Could this be a browser or OS specific issue?
