Hi everyone.
For no other reason than the fact that it's release -600 we've pushed the boat out and delivered a BIG release. So... What's in it? Here we go...
- Added group transform to Globals
- updated USB backup
- added DHCP option 150 support (for Cisco and Polycom)
- added Commit to SarkPCI edit panel
- updated AGI for group transform and fixed DISA bug
- added phones Cisco 7940 & 7960, Planet series, Siemens S450 C460 and a new phone class "MAILBOX" (see below)
- added a complete self-referential Class of Service subsystem into the AGI and GUI
- added a new mailbox manager into the AGI and GUI.
- added ringdely to extensions edit
The biggest single addition is the COS subsystem. You can turn it on and off from Globals and it allows you to define Classes of Service and then have those classes enforced at the individual phone level. Big iron systems (like Definity) have always had this stuff, it's just taken us a while to get 'round to putting it in. Classes are defined in the new class of Service panel. Essentially, COS is just a big, complex, number barring system. Logically, it is the opposite of a Route. It defines pathways that CANNOT be taken. Also, because it is open/closed dependant, you can do some pretty cool stuff with it. For example, at night-time, when the switch is put into night mode, it can automatically restrict all of the phones to emergency calls only. Or maybe only some of them. Alternatively, you might just want to restrict Jimmy from calling his new girlfriend on her mobile. It's as flexible as your imagination and your requirements. Anyhoo, here's a screenshot to give you an idea...

The classes themselves (like International, National and so on) are defined in the COS panel so they can be anything you want, and as many as you want. Here's the COS panel on our dev system....

It works by using the same asterisk dial patterns you are all used to by now. Except these patterns are blocking patterns rather than routing patterns. Because they are self-defining, it's easy to create your own for your country or PTT. Finally, there is one "super" pattern; Emergency Numbers, which you define in Globals and its patterns will ALWAYS be available from ALL phones no matter what class of service you impose. Here's a shot of ours...

You'll also notice (from the first screen shot) that voicemail has grown a fair bit. You can now nominate that an extension's voicemail be delivered to some other extension's voicemailbox. You can also create general purpose mailboxes (say for a department or workgroup) by adding a new pseudo-phone type called MAILBOX. This allows groups to share the same mailbox if they wish. You can also suppress passwords if you are a trusting bunch of folk. Aliases, IVR's and Trunks have all been extended to allow delivery to specific mailboxes, rather than just the operator, and those mailboxes can be group mailboxes if you wish.
There is a lot of new code in this release and we really need you guys to give a workout for us. There will almost certainly be bugs and we need your help to find them.
I'll let you know when it goes up onto our servers.
Kind Regards
Selintra
