where can i get an .iso newer than 4.0b3? i gather you're up to b5 now? i've never been able to get into the e-smith ftp server in the past, tonight it says closed for mirror update. any ideas when the mirrors will have b5?

btw 4.0b3 has been running like a top for me in a mission critical environment, save and except for printing. wouldn't have chanced it with a beta from any other software co. keep up the great work!

For some reason you haven't got our newest DNS record yet. In the meantime, you should be able to get it from:

ftp://www.e-smith.net/pub

Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated! Please let us know if you manage to get 4.0b5 and if it fixes your printing problem.

BTW, there is a final fix for the printing in 4.0b5, posted by George Steidley. You need to edit the file:

/etc/e-smith/templates/etc/smb.conf/template-begin

and add the -b switch to the "print command" line.

One of the nice things about RPMs is that you can upgrade them.
If you have 4.0b3 running, you don't really need to download a new .iso, you should be able to upgrade the
e-smith RPMs and the diald RPM and be up to date (and have your printing problem fixed as well).

I've fixed the one known bug in the e-smith-base RPM from 4.0b5
and posted it at:

i managed to download 4.0b5 from the e-smith ftp site, installed it, applied the printing fix (-b), and all works well. i've noticed a quirk with the local networks and subnets, which is the subject of my later post to this board.
