Using windows XP to connect to my e-smith time server
« on: April 20, 2002, 01:37:47 AM »
Is it possible to have the Windows XP auto time sync point to my e-smith box?

I have tried using the IP and the domain name, but I keep getting errors.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

The documents I have read say that it is enabled by default, what should I be doing to start it?

I use NetTime (http://sourceforge.net/projects/nettime) and it works great as a service...

11.1. Set date and time  (Mitel SME Server User Manual)
For more information about using a network time server, visit http://www.ntp.org/. You can also find a list of publicly available time servers at http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~mills/ntp/servers.htm. You should always use a secondary time server (also called a stratum 2 server) to lighten the load on the primary time servers.

It is not ON by default.  You must turn it ON in the config panel then go to the Default Netlogon.bat and remove the REM from that command

... Provided your E-Smith box is a PDC...
Otherwise you just need a NTP client (as I told you B4...)
