Force SME Setup with 3 HDDs to run RAID5

Hi@all,

i setup today a fresh 7.3 on 3 HDDs on Highpoint 454 Controller
to force it to raid5 instead raid1 with add. hotplug disk

is it yours a sentence ora a question?

btw, you can not setup sme with only 3 hd in raid 5 (cfr. http://wiki.contribs.org/Raid)

if you want raid 5 you have to:
- increase the number of the hds to 4 (you got a raid5 with 1 spare disk)
- use (if supported) HW raid no your controller

Hi Tom,
Haven't tried it, but I believe the "nospare" option should give you a raid 5 with 3 disks. Boot from the sme server cd and at the command prompt type "sme nospare" to install smeserver without a hot spare.
