Email Problems
« on: May 01, 2008, 09:31:48 PM »
I'm running SME 7.3 which I regurarly update.

My email does not work since running YUM UPDATE this afternoon (I accept that there could be non SME reasons, but the timing seems suspicous)

I am using the email servers of by provider. me@free.fr

I get two error messages:
Code: [Select]
An error occurred while sending email. The mailserver responded: Message denied temporarily. Please check the message and try again.
and
Code: [Select]
Sending of message failed. Please verify that your Mail & Newsgroups account settings are correct and try again.

The messages are as simple as can be (subject "test", body "test")

The account settings have not been touched. The problem occurs on serveral computers on the network.

Thanks in advance for any help.
The email setup is "standard" SME setup, without anything tweaked or added.

I had this (or very similar) with one system. They had a default server setup, but with the backup with DAR contrib as well. I updated the contrib manually, and then ran

signal-event post-upgrade; signal-event reboot

I'm not sure which of the two fixed it, but it then worked fine. I suspect it was running the above commands, but that is a gut feeling, rather than anything I can back up with evidence.

HTH.

Thanks for that.

signal-event post-upgrade; signal-event reboot

has been done as part of the normal update procedure. It did not resolve anything

Solved my problem by using my ISP's SMTP Server (Found the idea in another recent post on a different problem (http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=40863.0)
In Server Manager:
-Configuration,
-Emailsettings,
-Change email delivery settings,
-Address of Internet provider's mail Server (Fill in the IP of the ISP SMPTP server, to find out ping it, e.g. ping smtp.isp.com)
