Okay.

For now I've got SAIL working nice, and I have added some more phones and extensions (5001, 5002, 5003, 5004 and 5005)
Now when a person calls me on my Voip account A, ONLY phone 5001 will ring.. Great
When some one calls me on Voip account B, ONLY 5002 will ring.. Also great..

Now what I would like to do is make 5003, 5004 and 5005 also ring when some person calls me on Voip account B.

I'm sure that this can be done, but how??
Any help on this will be appreciated.

Hi WiFi,

You can do this in aliases, just create a new alias and add each extension you want to ring, if you want all the extensions to ring together you would choose "ring" for the group type if you want the extensions to ring in order, like 5002 then 5003 then 5004 and so on you would choose "hunt" as the group type. You can also add external numbers to the group such as your mobile. I made a separate alias for my mobile and made this alias number the outcome in the alias with the extensions so if I didn't answer the call it got sent to my mobile

Under Aliases...
In Alias number I can add any number, or should this be one that is in the 5001 to 5005 range, or can I use any name/number here?
Group type: Ring if I want all phones to ring at the same time.
SIP/IAX address: empty or ???
Now.. Number(s) to be directed to should be (in case of voip account B with extension 5002) 5003,5004,5005 (can I use a comma?)
Tag: empty or ??
Ring Delay: empty..
Alert-Info: empty..
Outcome: I think I need to select the extension that is already configured with Voip account B (5002)
Cluster: I have 2. One called NL and one called UK.. The 5002 is on UK, so I need to select this.

Hi wifi,

I used a different number range for my aliases, 7000 onward.
Group Type: Ring for all phones or Hunt to ring in order
SIP/IAX address: any continous alphanumeric string such as allphones
Numbers to be directed to: 5001 5002 5003 5004 5005 No commas just spaces
Tag: Empty
Ring Delay: I entered 40 (I think this is in seconds)
Alert Info: Empty
Outcome: where ever you want the call to end after all extensions have been tried
Description: Description of group, again allphones or sales

I think this is all OK.

Got it...

I've created the Alias, but can not test it at the moment. (it's late and might/will wake people up here)
Tomorrow morning it will be the 1st thing that I'll test.

Okay.. Back again.. And no. I can not get it to work.



Any clue what I could be doing wrong?
The number that I selected in the "Trunk for external numbers" is the one that I would like to let all the phones ring on. (when that nr is called all phones should ring)
That number is set to extension: 5007, and it in the UK cluster.
The extension 5000 is in the NL cluster, and is set to an other Voip provider.

Again, both phones are working fine with it's own Voip provider (in and out).
They can call eachother directly by using the extension number (thanks to Del)

Hi WiFi,

The trunk for external numbers is only used if you include an external telephone number in the alias, such as your mobile. To get the alias to ring on incoming calls you must enter it in the "Open Inbound Route:" box in the trunk's settings and in the "Closed Inbound Route:" box. I am betting you still have these set to the individual extension numbers. Good luck, let me know how you get on.

An alias will not ring a phone in a foreign cluster.  This isn't a bug or a fault, it's designed to behave that way.

A much easier (and simpler) way to accomplish your requirement is simply to put all phones and trunks into the default cluster and then route outbound based upon the dialled number, even if you have to introduce and strip a leading digit for route (and hence trunk) selection.

Your alias will then work fine.

selintra, could you please give me a step by step howto on how to do this?
At the moment I have a 'sort of' working setup the way you (selintra ) told me some time ago (with two clusters), and I will only change this if I'm 100% sure on how to do this. The 100% sure will only be if you (or any other guru) will take me by the hand and guide me step by step..

I've got 2 Voip accounts. One is Dutch and one is from the UK.
The Dutch number looks like this: 0031 - (0)30 - 7111234 (I've changed some digits in the last number for privacy)
The 0031 is the country code, the (0)30 is the city code and the  7111234 the local code.
Please note that you will need to drop the (0) when calling from outside the Nethelands.

The UK number looks like this: 0044 - (0)1312 - 770123 (again I've changed some digits in the last number for privacy)
The 0044 is the country code, the (0)1312 is the city code and the 770123 the local code.
Please note that you will need to drop the (0) when calling from outside the UK.

Both trunklines are registering fine, and do work in and out.

At the moment I only have 2 hardware phones (Grandstream Budget Tone 100) connected to the server that is running SME and SAIL.
Phone one with extention 5001 and phone 2 with extention 5007 (I've got more phones, but disconnected them from the system to keep things simple.)

I would like to use the Dutch number as main number. ALL phones should ring when some one calles, and ALL phones should be able to use it to dial out.
The UK number should be set to extention 5007, but when not answered within a set time, redirect to all phones (in this case only 5000)

I hope that I'm not asking too much here.. If so, than please ignore this message.

We've already covered this.  In the original post I suggested that you could use clusters or prefixes.  However, at the time, you didn't specify that inbound calls might ring all phones (i.e. cross cluster).  Clusters were developed for multiple occupancy buildings, they work by isolating groups of phones from one another.  If you elect to continue with clustering then you cannot have an alias ring group which crosses clusters. 

From your most recent post you only discuss inbound behaviour.  You don't say what outbound  behaviours yoiu require
(i.e. which trunks to use when and by whom).  Inbound routing through aliases is trivial if all of the phones are in the same cluster. Using aliasing and alias outcomes you can do exactly as you have described.

Hi again.

selintra, please do not get me wrong. I really appreciate your work and helping me. At the time of my 1st setup I did not know what was and what was not possible, and the cluster setup was way easier for me than the aliasing.

Anyway. It looks like the way I need to go is aliasing.
It would be great if some person calls the Dutch number, and me being able to pickup any of the phones and get the call.
Same thing for the UK number.
I would also love to be able to make a call from any of the phones with the Dutch number, and I do not mind pressing 1 (or *1 or #1* or any combincation) to make outbound calls with the UK number.

Later today I will delete all the stuff I have on the server, and start over again..

No need to delete it all 
Just put both trunks in the default cluster, tell them to go to your "allphones" alias in the UK and NL trunk "Open Inbound Route:" and "Closed Inbound Route:" boxes and in the "Trunk Pre-select (2 digits):" box add a number to dial to select the trunk, such as 91 for the NL line and 92 for the UK line. Good luck.

It's true that trying things like this is the best way to learn, but when things are setup correct by a guru, I will look at it and learn that way I hope.
