flexbackup compression

I am using a Segate Hornet Tape drive with Travan TR5 10 Gig native 20 Gig compressed tapes. My Mitel SME5 server has now got 10 gig of disk used and the  nightly tape backups which have worked fine for several months have suddenly been uncompleted.  The log file does not show any errors they just stop part way through at just under 10GB.  So this looks too me as if compression is not swithced on in the standard e-smith flexbackup routine. Can anyone confirm if this is the case and if so how do I enableconpression? Thanks

I am also seeing this on my 4/8 Gb tape drive, when my /home space is only 3.2 Gb.
