I suspect that this is a bug, but before I file a bug, I wonder if anyone else has seen anything similar. If nothing else, it could easily be something I've screwed up.
I maintain several SME Servers remotely, using SSH. Once logged in, I can normally access the server manager using 'su admin', select the server manager option and log in to Links. Works fine, except on one machine.
On this machine, Links brings up the login prompt, I enter 'admin' and the admin password, and press enter. At which point, the system recycles. I don't get an invalid user/password error, it just goes back to the Links login prompt. And will do that multiple times.
So far, the only way I've been able to get out is to CTRL-C Links, then select reboot from the admin menu. When the box comes back up, I'm able to log into the server manager using the method described above. In the cases so far, the server has only been running for 3 or 4 days between the problem occurring.
The server in question has a number of contribs installed (and has been used as something of a test bed), but so far, I can't see what could be causing the problem.
Has anyone seen this sort of problem? I searched the forum and bug tracker, but either its not been reported before, or I'm using the wrong search terms, so I'm hoping someone may recognize the symptoms.
Paul.
