You just connect it! :)

If you have ANY other problem than above... please tell us what is it... so we can help you.

I´ve done work even a USB winmodem with Hylafax (love Hylafax) not a easy task... but it works!

Are your 3Com a WinModem ? It´s internal/external ? In which port is connected ? It´s working ? How do you know ? Can you issue commands using minicom ?

OK! Let´s start from beggining: FORGET HYLAFAX! At least untill we get your modem working with minicom!

I´ve asked:
Quote
Are your 3Com a WinModem ? It´s internal/external ? In which port is connected ? It´s working ? How do you know ? Can you issue commands using minicom ?

So let´s ask again:
1) Are your 3Com a WinModem ? If you don´t know, look into it for a model number or anything who allow identify it.
2) It´s internal/external ?
3) If external in which serial port is connected ?
4) Is your modem detected if you run "kudzu" ??

After those answers I´ll be able to help you.

BTW: I´m at MSN as jader31 _&AT&_ terra _#DOT#_ com _$DOT$_ br.  If you like we can chat so diag would be quicker.

just my 2 cents don't use win modems on linux they are crap get a hardware based ext modem anything that does away with the dsp chip and uses software no thanks
the old rockwell modems were the best
and there were Conexant hardware based ext as well askey / dynalink modems as well

use the us robotic external modem from memory they were 56k flex and x2 that should work disable the internal first restart the pc and watch the lights on the modem and see if a couple of them blink on and off while the pc restarts

I agree with you.... winmodem sucks... at least the "win" part sucks! ;)

I was contacted offline by him and was able to configure his modem (was a external 3Com).
I believe he have it working now.

PS: I have done a winmodem works with linux/hylafax... not just for fun as also because it´s just one piece (without power supply) to connect! ;)
