I recently upgraded my SME server to new hardware and it went far better than expected given the motherboard I chose. To summarize, it was absolutely flawless with no mods and no failures.
Why am I surprised?
Well this is based on 7.3 and the board has jmicron IDE, Marvell, and ICH9 chipsets. The first two of which have historically been a concern on linux. I needed all of these to work in my config.
I had no issues with SATA2 drives, Ethernet via the onboard gigE port, IDE HDD, IDE CDROM.
I also didn't have to issue any compatibility modes as others have had to do.
Thought this might be useful to some.
