Topic: Lan Network problem in BIOSTAR Mainboard 945GC-M7 TE

Dear all today I just reinstalling my new SME server 7.2 into a new Mainboard 945GC-M7 TE, all as HD, Memory, Video is worling fine and very fast, but the lan network card don´t go up, this mean I can see that the eth0 no appear, have some one any idea that how can I solve this problem?, Really  need to solve this issue ASAP.

P.S. the lan card model is "Atheros L2 -Fast Ethernet  10/100 Base-T Controller " for this mainboard

Which is most likely not supported by SME Server, I do not even know if there are linux drivers available for this NIC. Does the motherboard come with a driver disk? Does it have linux driver (or sources) on it?

  Good, Just I used the link posted by the second friend there I found the .c and .h file and the MakeFile file in order to include those files into the kernel but unfortunately I don't have strong experience compiling the SME serve, it's Possible?, this mean, can I insert a new network LAN card into the actual SME Kernel?, Please if some one know,  please put in this forum Step by Step manual to do this.

The general advice is not to compile or run development software on a production server.

Given you have a fast new machine I would attempt to get VMWare onto it then install Centos 4.x and use that to compile the driver.

The closest match for a rpm is here....

Unfortunately there was no SRPM.

William, before all, thanks for your advice, but really I'm not an expert in Linux so in this case, can you please explain me more about what VMWare, RMP and  SRPM mean. How can I use the files located in the link provided by you. so Those file need to be download and save into a new SME installation?, really I don't know how find a definitely solution

Might be just quicker to get an additional LAN card.

I agree.
There is new trend in the NIC builtin adapters that have most of the "brain" in the software, not in the silicon similar to WINModems. Some Realtek adapters are now made the same way. Software drivers for them available for Windows Vista only and have to be from motherboard manufacturer.
Hopefully PCI NICs are cheap and still easily available.
