Hi all, its been a long time since i've visited the forums. My server has been running flawless for years (SME has to be the greatest package for this type of distro (thanks to the developers)

Back to my topic, I was just wondering if its possible, how can i setup Push email on SME ?

it would be a really good feature for SME. I was reading in the news how apple are using the IDLE extension on there mail servers to enable push email for MobileMe users (.Mac aka DotMac) and thought it would be extremely useful to the SME community

Google for push+imap+dovecote and you will find this:

which tells you that SME already supports the IMAP IDLE command.

You'll find some other articles though which tell you that you'll need more than that, perhaps by developing dovecot plugin extensions.

I'd guess that it depends on exactly what client you have and what you want it to do.

The clients i use is Apple Mail for my desktop and the default mail application on my iphone. I would like emails to be pushed to my iphone rather than have to manually sync (similar to apples MobileMe service).
