redirecting email
« on: August 03, 2008, 02:36:10 PM »
I have a user in a small office i support who is wanting incoming emails to redirect from the mail account on the SME server to an external account.  She is now using a terminal session via a VPN to that external location, and using their mail server, hence the need to have the mail forwarded to that new location.   Is there any way this can be configured on the server?   The user currently leaves a PC going all day so that Outlook can receive and redirect the emails to the external account using Outlooks 'rules', but it is a wastefull way of achieving this.
Any ideas?
thanks
John

server-manager::Collaboration::Users
- select her user account
- set "email delivery" to Forward email to address below
- set "Forwarding address" to the desired value

Your question has been answered, but the answer is in the manual, which you should really have a careful and slow read of (2 or 3 times) so you will be aware of all the features of sme server.
Please search before asking, an answer may already exist.
The Search & other links to useful information are at top of Forum.

Many thanks!   I did read the mail section of the manual, expecting to find mail related issues there.  It is as you say, in the collaboration section, but that was not immediately intuitive to me, and as a volunteer maintaining  a system for an evironmental group in my spare time, this manual is only one of many that cover systems I look after, and so I dip into what seems to be the most relevant part to solve the problem at hand.  I missed it.
cheers
