Topic: Why has maildrop refused to invoke external command

Hi everyone,

My getmail installation on my SME 7.3 behaves strange. It only pulls in external mails into the local mail boxes when i poll directly from the server-manager using 'dunggog.net:-> getmail -> Poll ...'.

However when left to poll periodically by itself, it fails to deliver external mails into the local mail boxes.

A look at the log files reveals the following:-
getmail/log says...
 2008-09-06 16:00:23 Initializing SimplePOP3Retriever:....
 2008-09-06 16:00:33 Delivery error (command maildrop 29185 error (127, exec of command maildrop failed (refuse to invoke external commands as root or GID 0 by default)))

I also observed that no error was reported in qpsmtpd/current.

I would appreciate if anyone could give me a lead as to what is going on. Dungog.net is not forthcomning and I am really in a  state.
