Horde H3 updates
« on: September 20, 2008, 05:25:47 PM »
I noticed some new updates for Kronolith, nag, nmemo, trean, in the smecontribs repo.  When I tried to install them I get a dependency error needing Horde to be 3.2 and imp-h3 to be 4.2.   Both of my current installs are Horde 3.1 and imp 4.1.   When I searched for those updates they were in smeupdates-testing.

Installed Horde 3.2, Imp 4.2 and installed the updates, reconfigured, rebooted, and my left panel goes away when I log in.   The Inbox seems garbled up.   I thought perhaps it was using php4 and horde 3.2 needed php5.  I have php5-cgi running for a few ibays.   Anyway, after hours of testing and trying, I had to remove Horde, and reinstall it fresh with my existing rpms.

Thought I would let the forum know incase A.  I am doing something wrong, or B.  Something still needs finished.

This response is an fyi to all.  I answered this question in a private email, but if you install horde 3.2, and have trean installed, you will need to set trean to inactive.  The version of trean in smecontribs is not compatible with horde 3.2.

Also, the updated rpms are currently in smeupdates-testing, and this repo should not be enabled by default.

I tried to install mimp as per http://wiki.contribs.org/Mimp but get the same errors:

All of the current horde add-on modules have been upgraded to support horde 3.2.  Horde 3.2 is currently on the 7.4 beta iso, so you should not install any of the add-ons until after 7.4 is released.

Wouldn't it be better to revoke them from the smecontribs repo for th etime being, until SME Server 7.4 is released?

Aha! That cleared things up!

Fortunately I had another server running mimp, and a
scp otherbox:/var/cache/yum/smecontribs/packages/*mimp* . followed by a yum localinstall *mimp* got me up and running!  :D

If you have an idea on how to better manage contribs, then I'm all ears.  Currently there isn't a smecontribs-testing repo, pluse I don't know how one would manage that.  I am running Horde 3.2 on my home server and since I manage the horde add-ons, I have upgraded them to support my efforts.

I will however, keep the horde 3.3  and above updates off the repo until such a time the SME upgrades to those versions.

We have SME Test for that... if I am correct.

Correct for smeserver rpms, but when you do a make build from the smecontribs repo it does not go to smetest.

Yes it does

http://wiki.contribs.org/Package_Modification#Releasing_a_package

After building and verifying rpm authors have to manually login to the build server and cp from smetest to smecontribs

No you don't.  I don't manually move any of the rpms I maintain in smecontribs.  Maybe someone else is moving them, but not me.  I've already given the answer to the issue here.  I consider the manner closed.

Someone else did indeed, but contribs need manual interventions to come in smecontribs as they will be released into smetest after build. After verifying/testing they are to be pushed to smecontribs.

What if you do the update without smecontribs, like this:
Code: [Select]
yum update
Or if that will not work perhaps like this:
Code: [Select]
yum update --enablerepo=smecontribs --exclude=smeserver-kronolith
If all above not works you should try and do the upgrade in batches and make sure you do not include horde  (and its dependencies and e-smith/smeserver related packages) in your update set as most likely is there because of horde or one of it's packages being pushed to early, while not all of it's dependencies have been released.
