Create Internet Printer using Ghostscript? CUPS? to create PDF's

We have to print out items for people that use various programs including Fonts we may not have - PDF's work best but some applications don't produce them and some people have trouble with installing something like PDFCreator, plus some are using Mac's.

Would it sound logical that someone could go to Printers Folder in their PC - add printer - use the Connect to Printer on Internet - type in the address and the printer would then be ours. They print to our SME server with virtual PDF (Ghostscript) printer which would then create a PDF we could email back to them, ideally at screen resolution, and also if okay actually print at full resolution.

SME Server can certainly create PDF files with a bit of work -- see this wiki page.

But if your clients are external then you would have to configure SME Server so that they could print to CUPS over the Internet, something that is a little outside SME Server's core functionality. However, you could consider using some kind of VPN, or alternatively there are a few suggestions on the above wiki page.
