Agent86, do you have a reason for using DAR2 and not the standard fully-supported backup to USB?
Yes, I do
As I've said here, I've tried both without success.
Standard backup to usb was not included in 7.2 thus I've been using DAR2 as previously recommended by you.
Then since my disk array is degraded and I wanted to restore to new hardware I attempted to do this and failed.
Now the server started having other problems accessing server-manager, ibays and webpages in the ibays. and webmail. The only access was via ssh to server-manager, image hosting down, etc.
Since I am unaware how to diagnose those problems I decided to update via CD to 7.4 in order to use the backup/restore feature to local usb which is included in the 7.4 version. Since I had no success restoring with DAR2
Updated to 7.4 via CD rom seems to have fixed the access problems I was having.
So I ran one backup to workstation via local usb connected to the sme server using the backup feature included in 7.4 and it appeared to complete and the email suggested it was complete.
I then did a fresh install to another server, and attempted to restore from usb drive when prompted to connect, I did so. (NO FILES FOUND). But the files are there and confirmed.
I then decided to try to used the server-manager panel to restore. Once I created a backup job, but without performing it.I could verify and restore from workstation usb disk and it appeared to restore as I've indicated. I rebooted as the server text directs. But the server wan failed and no access to anything from local server, from internet, and no email nothing.
So now I'm considering attempting restore with DAR2 again since the files are still on the usb drive as well as the new backup which was create with the 7.4 backup options.
And now that the old server is working properly again but with degraded array, I ran a new backup with DAR2 considering to restore to the new server once I install DAR2 again, and all the other stuff, like joomla/gallery2,myadmin etc.
I would prefer to use the standard restore feature of 7.4 which appears to work easily, however it did not actually restore a working server and the wan is dead once I restore. Also I don't have a dedicated monitor for this server so I have to move all this hardware around every time I try something until I get it up and running on the new server.
Been working on this for 2) 12 hour days straight and have a repaired old server with degraded array, and no successful method of backing up or restoring.
Once I did a backup with 7.4 I thought it would be so easy to restore, but during installation of the new server it says no files found. And also when trying to restore from the panel it does not leave me with a working server. So I'm back to attempting DAR2. I don't really care which I use I just want something simple that works.
Anyhow that why the DAR2 subject only because thats how my backup jobs started in versions 7.1 etc.
