Hi all,
We are just putting up two HA machines for a small call centre here in the UK. Anyhoo, we ordered a pair of TE122BF T1/E1 cards (with h/w EC) to handle the PRI. Despite having used these cards in the past, the new ones just hosed the servers. They would, if left long enough, eventally come online but only after lots of latency errors from dmesg.
A bit of invetigation showed that the cards worked perfectly well if we removed the EC daughterboards. So.... We spoke to Digium and they said that the EC daughterboards wouldn't run with the 2.6.9 kernel and we would have to upgrade to 2.6.18 (CentOS 5).
Now, I can't find anything on the Digium site to suggest that they have withdrawn support for Centos 4/EL4, but that is effectively waht they are saying for this board.
We therefore put up an SME8 Beta3 system and installed Asterisk on it. In fact we had to compile asterisk on it because we couln't find any suitable rpms for the current SME8.0 release. We also installed Sail-716.
The board (with EC fited) came up as nice as you please. Sail-716 needed one small mod to run. So now we have a working SME8.0 with a PBX and working 30-channel PRI connection on it.
No problems with SME8.0, it just worked.
Round of applause for SME8, resounding rasberry for Digium.
Kind Regards
S
