Topic: Webserver OK, Gateway won't run

so, after much time with the manual and other sources, i am still lost.

if i configure with the Server-only, i am able to see the internet fine.  however, when i attempt to configure the system with the server and gateway, not only does the gateway not function, but i lose the internet connection as well.

both NICs register fine with the install and during each boot.

any suggestions?

here's my configuration for the server and gateway:
Use DHCP:  Off
IP address:  my static IP address for DSL
Subnet mask:  255.255.255.0
Gateway IP address:  ISP's Gateway for my IP

Local IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Local subnet:  255.255.255.0
DHCP Server:  on
Web Server Name: my IP address

Hardware configuration:
IBM PC 750 Pentium 90
92MB RAM
4.2 GB EIDE Drive (EIDE0 - master)
EIDE CD-ROM (EIDE2 - master)
IBM PCI EtherJet NIC
LinkSys PCI LNE100Tx NIC

Make sure that the NIC configured with your Internet address is connected to the DSL modem, and the NIC configured with the local address is connected to your LAN.

man, how embarrassing.  i was sure i had check both of them.

anyway, it worked after switching the connections.
