Change Server Name?

Change Server Name?

Hi,
I have been using SME 5.12 in what I classed as testing mode over the last month.
I am very happy with it, and am ready to put it on the public internet.
My question is this, right now my server looks like :"Server Only - Dedicated"
The primary domain name is an 10.XX.XX.XX address because that was local to our network. I have been given an IP from my ISP, and wondered if, I reconfigure the server and under the primary domain name (where I now have the 10.IP) If I put in our real domain "www.mydomain.com" if once we re-boot etc, if all of the user  accounts etc, will still work, and I am thinking I may run into trouble with the webmail, for the certificate?
In a nutshell, if someone else has similar experience, or opinion to offer, it would greatly be appreciated.

I haven't tried moving from server only to server and gateway, but there is one odd thing I've noticed about e-smith:  The original name will be somewhat persistent:  I changed the name of my server, and everything works correctly, BUT the original name is still marked by e-smith (in the "Hostnames and Addresses" page) with a double asterisk, which the page defines this way:
"(**) - This host represents your system name and cannot be modified or removed."

Both the original hostname and the new hostname are listed and marked this way.  It doesn't seem to hurt anything yet, but it's annoying and unsettling...
