Realtek drivers 8111C
« on: March 21, 2009, 08:52:18 PM »
Hi all,
I have used SME 7.3 for a while now (and by using i mean installing it and letting it run :) ). Things expanded so it was time for a more powerful server. After spending some money into it I have discovered that the program won't recognize my 2 onboard ethernet adapters. The motherboard is Gigabyte X48-DQ6.

For about 5 hours I have been searching for solutions and all i found were old topics in which it was said that the problem can't be "elegantly" fixed and that you have to reinstall the drivers for each kernel upgrade.

I was wondering it somebody found a solution for this matter and what is it.

Best regards,
Pavel

No as this hadware is not supported by the RHEL4 kernel (used by CentOS 4.x and therefore also SME 7.x as the kernel is taken from upstream). Therfore if you really want them you will have to compile them like a kernel module and you will have to do so for every newer kernel. Your easiest solution with the least of worries and problems is to use supported NICs like suggested in all the threads you might have read so far... those suggestions are there for a reason you know? :-)
