Hi :P,

I am stuck at mkbootdisk:

# uname -r
2.6.9-78.0.13.ELsmp

# fdformat /dev/fd0

# umount /dev/fd0

# mkbootdisk --device /dev/fd0 2.6.9-78.0.13.ELsmp
Insert a disk in /dev/fd0. Any information on the disk will be lost.
Press <Enter> to continue or ^C to abort:
cp: writing `/tmp/mkbootdisk.kq6750/vmlinuz': No space left on device
cp: writing `/tmp/mkbootdisk.kq6750/initrd.img': No space left on device
cat: write error: No space left on device
cat: write error: No space left on device
20+0 records in
20+0 records out

What are the next steps please?

why do you need a floppy disk?
you can boot with SME cd into rescue mode.. you should have lshw..

BTW, please explain the problem, not your solution

Ciao

Hi Stefano :P,

I want to create a diagnostic diskette with lshw for general debugging purpose.  The only Linux system I have here is SME 7.4.

My problem:  I am stuck at mkbootdisk.

capisci?
Ciao :P

hi

you can't create a floppy disk using SME's kernel because it is too big (1.4 Mb)

Ciao

The SME Server CD has a rescue mode. From the startup prompt you get when the CD boots, just type "rescue".

EDIT: Oops, I see Stefano has already given you this advice 8)

Moving thread to General Discussion forum as it is more appropriate there.
