Has anyone setup and/or is using Weather Display http://www.weather-display.com/index.php

I have just purchased a weather station and would like to set it up on SME?

Any and ALL help would be MOST helpful

System Requirements

The following are known requirements and a variety of Linux distributions that Weather Display Linux is known to run on. However, this doesn't mean that it won't work on any untested systems(OpenBSD, FreeBSD, NetBSD, Solaris, etc...)

There is no X windows running on SME...

Hi

Have just recently purchased a weather station and want to set it up on my server.
I have my own domain and would like to set it up on that.
The server is SME (http://www.contribs.org/) which doesn't have x-server in it.

Is it possible to install to this type of system??

A quick search comes up with the following download

Not being Linux knowledgeable, can anyone think of any problems that I should be mindfull of as I install?

unzip to your home directory
set the needed settings in the config.txt file first
you also need libc of vers 2.5 or later (otherwise you will get a floating point error at start up)

Libc version might be an issue...

Just out of curiosity ... how do I find out what version of LIBC is running on my SME server?

rpm -qa | grep libc

As SME7.4 is based on CentOS 4, it will have libc2.3.
SME8 is based on CentOS 5, and will have libc 2.5.

2 Oregon WRM-968
LaCrosse 2310

Both are wireless.

Currently I use a win software that sends the data to SME.

Yes but their normally up.

You can if you have linux software, I'm not currently though.

W station > Win > to SME, works ok for now.
That's why I'm looking at this thread, hope it moves along, I don't have much time to offer it, other projects in works right now.
There is info for the protocol for the 968 on the www that will help for writing perl or c.

Object of the game with this is low power, so consolidating this app onto sme saves power.
Which is what I believe is motivating your both up question.

I send the data to SME, works ok but, need 2 systems up and running.

I have the Oregon Scientific WMR200 http://www2.oregonscientific.com/shop/product.asp?cid=34&scid=136&pid=775

Currently operation stand alone.  Hopefully soon will be running a web page feed directly form the station.
