Operating System no Found
« on: May 27, 2009, 09:17:41 AM »
Hello,

I had a disk crash.
System configuration:
- SME 7.4
- RAID1 (2x250 IDE)

One disk crashed, then I tried to boot from the other disk, but the mirroring must have mirrored some of the errors I think, because it won't boot. It only says:
Operating System not Found.

I booted with the Install CD and used rescue mode to copy the most important data to another server.
After that I booted with the install CD again and started a normal installation, it found SME installed and asked to do an upgrade: I choose to upgrade.
When it boots it still gives the same Operating System not Found error. I had hoped that it would fix the boot issue.

Is there a way to make this disk boot normally again and have it behave like a server with just one disk? And once it runs again, I want to add a new HD and then create / sync the RAID again.

I would really like to avoid the work of configuring the server with all users and rights etc. again.

Hope someone can give me some ideas and tips.

Irian

Move the still functional disk to the first hard disk port (primary) ie hda or sda and try rebooting.

If OK, then add new blank disk to the secondary port and then resync from the admin console panel.
Please search before asking, an answer may already exist.

Excellent!
It booted now.

From all the things I tried, I didn't think about something as simple as that.

Thank you!!!
