Broken mail server [SOLVED]
« on: June 05, 2009, 07:10:47 PM »
I've been using SME Server since version 6, but recently re-installed everything fresh at 7.4.  I've set it up as a mail server, but since a recent update mail seems to have broken.  The only extra contrib I have installed is Awstats.  The last external mail I received is on the 15th May and here is the qpsmtpd log for it:

I now only seem to be able to accept connections from localhost but not from the outside world.  What have I broken?

Yes, via Server manager after a software update on 20th May and using the above commands via ssh.

After entering the settings from here:
http://wiki.contribs.org/Email#Set_max_email_size using the defaut sizes, I no longer get the second log, or any other logs until I do any localhost email that works.  Still not accepting external e-mails.

I found this:
Quote
Disable mail to a user from an external network
Can be either a user, pseudonym or group
Code: [Select]
db accounts setprop groupname/username Visible internal
signal-event email-update

I haven't entered this, but what are the commands to reverse this?

The most likely thing to have changed is that your ISP started blocking port 25 inbound.

But I use port 465 for SMTPS and port 993 for IMAPS.  Plus I'm able to sent mail out, just not receive.

Receive uses port 25 inbound.

So that would explain why I'm getting mail from my ISP account, but not via my mail server behind the same router?

When your mail client fetches mail from your mailbox at your ISP, it makes an outbound POP, IMAP, POPS or IMAPS connection. When your server receives mail from around the Internet, port 25 inbound is used.

Virgin Media have said they don't block any ports.  Should I start forwarding port 25 to port 25 of my SME Server?  This seems odd as it was working before the 15th May.
