block site with dansguardian for one PC
« on: August 14, 2009, 01:08:25 AM »
I have DG setup and running fine in a training environment. DG is used to filter content via PAM auth and works well. However we have a PC in the students lounge that is not within visual range of the other PC's and offices. There is a particular website that is used for calculations that instructors use to check students work, but we want to block it from students using it from that one PC. I have set up groups with DG, but don't want them to be in a separate group as we have several other sites blocked etc and for administration it keeps all the blocked sites more or less together.

Is there a way to allow the IP address of the PC to be included in a weighting list or something so that we can ban the site that way rather than configuring auth by IPaddress on a global basis, as I want to keep the PAM auth for the logs and other shared PC's etc.

Assuming that the students don't have admin rights on that one PC, you could add an entry to the hosts file directing traffic to the website to 127.0.0.1.
