Hi there I am having troubles connecting to a new SME 7.4 installation at work this is the log for the connection:

Jun 14 20:53:32 pegasus pptpd[24565]: CTRL: Client xxx.xxx.xxx.246 control connection started
Jun 14 20:53:32 pegasus pptpd[24565]: CTRL: Starting call (launching pppd, opening GRE)
Jun 14 20:53:32 pegasus pppd[24566]: Plugin radius.so loaded.
Jun 14 20:53:32 pegasus pppd[24566]: RADIUS plugin initialized.
Jun 14 20:53:32 pegasus pppd[24566]: pppd 2.4.4 started by root, uid 0
Jun 14 20:53:32 pegasus pppd[24566]: Using interface ppp0
Jun 14 20:53:32 pegasus pppd[24566]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/0
Jun 14 20:53:32 pegasus kernel: divert: not allocating divert_blk for non-ethernet device ppp0
Jun 14 20:54:02 pegasus pppd[24566]: LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Jun 14 20:54:09 pegasus pptpd[24565]: CTRL: Reaping child PPP[24566]
Jun 14 20:54:09 pegasus pppd[24566]: Modem hangup
Jun 14 20:54:09 pegasus pppd[24566]: Connection terminated.
Jun 14 20:54:09 pegasus kernel: divert: no divert_blk to free, ppp0 not ethernet
Jun 14 20:54:09 pegasus pppd[24566]: Exit.

I checked the post for the same problem and many people have this line:
 LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
I already increase the time out, but it didn't work.

I have another SME Server running in other country and from the same computer (home) I can connect, so it discard my pc at home.

Any clues????

Google for 'LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests' and look at the first hit, which concerns diagnosis of that particular issue.

I have same problem. Same error message.
But I discovered if I remove WRT150N (on client side) I can VPN to SME7.3.
Are you after a WRT150N also ?

BTW: This very same WRT150N worked like a champion for months... so suddenly VPN PPTP stopped to work . Not sure how/why till now... searching for explanations yet. BTW: I assure you: PPTP Passthrough is enabled! ;)

hope you guys can help with my vpn problems

i have 4 sites with 4 xp pro (sp3) pc's connecting to my 7.4 sme server.

there are 2 sites where i have problems.

whenever a xp pc wants to make a vpn connection it just sits on " verifying username and password "
then it gives me a 721 error

i have disabled the firewalls on the xp boxes on both sites and still have the same problem. user names do exist on the sme box and have vpn access enabled. i even changed the routers on both sites and still no access.

any help greatly appreciated
