SME backup report I'm confused what does it mean?
« on: July 31, 2009, 10:10:52 AM »
Hi using the standard backup software to backup my server to a USB attached drive- runs according to the schedule and am getting the report.
My question is - is it backing up the server and will i be able to restore from the backup files.
Parts of the report advises of errors and others state of a successful backup.
What does "FATAL error, aborting operation
Badly formatted terminator, cannot extract catalogue location"
mean?

Can anyone clarify what the report is saying and is it really backing up successfully.

Heres the report:
DAILY BACKUP TO WORKSTATION REPORT

Making backup on temporary dir...
using a backup session timeout of : 28770 seconds

Kind Regards John

Need more info (sme version, e-smith-backup rpm version, backup configuration)

It looks like you are trying to do an incremental backup without having all the preceeding backups in line.

I have had a similar problem in the past, turned out to be the usb drive that seemed to be comming to the end of its life.
I replaced it with a new drive and all was well, no more errors.
