big chalenge: making work SME+OCS+Joomla+AllowOverride
« on: August 25, 2009, 06:44:37 PM »
Hi,

I have a complicated problem:

I've installed a SME server with OCSInventory and joomla in an ibay.

Everything work great. When i go to http://server/ocsinventory, the page is blank, so it's ok.

But when i define the joomla ibay as the default domain website, http://server/ocsinventory return the joomla website and no more computer can be reported....

If i activate AllowOverride on joomla ibay and go to http://server/ocsinventory, i get tha 404 error from joomla (not apache)

any idea to get sme+OCS+joomla+allowoverride work properly?

thx for your help

I strongly recommend you use the wiki http://wiki.contribs.org/Joomla and http://wiki.contribs.org/OCS_Inventory_Tools and install packages from the contribs there.

read the howtos above even if you don't want to install new instances as you may find some useful background.
if you have customised / imported data backing up before uninstalling to restore onto the new installs.

This would install each app into a separate directory in /opt and if you follow the howtos all works well without any customised AllowOverride (although you can customised further using the sme templating - search the wiki for this too).

I run both OCS / GLPI and Joomla great using these contribs.
I did have to hunt around a bit with the contrib to install multiple joomla installations as the contrib uses /opt/joomla automagically.  And you will need to check which versions you install as later versions of ocs require sme8 which is in beta testing now.

Cheers, shell

hi shell, thx for you answer.

I've installed ocs using the contrib, but i really can't find any advantage to install joomla with the contrib... it's just a copy into an ibay and a new mysql database that could be added using command line..........

my problem is not a problem ith joomla! the problem is that when you install the OCS contrib and that you use any website in an ibay with AllowOverride on,  defined as the default domain website, then... OCS doens't work anymore!

I think that's because OCS use an apache redirection, and when you define as default another ibay, it's an apache redirection too.... so i suppose that's the problem....

gdbs

You were just told (by shell)  that recent versions of ocs need sme 8, so your issue may be related to the sme server version you are using.
