I currently share my internet connection amongst a few people but my adsl router which is also my wireless access point has no filtering, logging or per user QoS facilities.
I'd like to set up one box with an adsl adaptor, wireless card (preferably supporting N) and a link to my wired network. this box will ideally do the following
File share
remote access
web access
web content filtering
web cache
as my existing SME box does all this I thought that SME would be a good place to start.
I'd like to know if its possible to add an adsl card and a wireless card to my box to add the following functions
1) replace the function of my wireless adsl box
2) auto restart the adsl when the connection drops
3) web accounting (recording how much web data each user transfers (using radius or similar to identify users)
4) as a network "share" to use with my Mac for running time machine
5) allow some wireless users access to some files internet, some just files, some just internet
6) do automatic dated backups in a similar way to windows "shadow files" or ideally just keep a hidden archive each time a file changes so I can get back to any previous version
But an all in one wireless routing adsl box with file shares and content filtering is the main aim I have. I've searched for "wireless" on this forum but not found anything promising.
Am I on a fruitless search using SME as my base? Does anyone have any other suggestions?
