Friends,

I have spoken to my administrator and I trying to push them to donate something for the SME software we use. However when I look at the donations in my user name they all seem to be monthly or yearly donations. I guess I'm a little confused by this. Shouldn't there be a "One time Gift" section. I understand that a yearly donation is a one time gift I suppose but the impression is given that after a year we will be billed again. I'm sure that is not the way it is done but that could be the impression that is given.

Can we request a one time donation section? I suppose one could just go through the anonymous paypal pament process (which is not the recommend way of doing it) but its nice to have it associated with our user name.
Would that be possible?

Regards

Hi SM288,

Yes the yearly donation can be a one time donation or by default the donation will reoccur in a year time from donation date, but once you click the "order" you will be asked:

Quote
By default these subscriptions will be reoccurring.
If you do not want this then be sure to uncheck the option on the next screen.
To cancel a current subscription please see these instructions on the paypal website.

So you can uncheck the option to make the donation a one time only.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Thanks I have made my donation.

Another suggestion and I'm not being critical just a thought,  Our administrator might have given a little more if there was a bit of a choice. eg.

The amounts are locked in and the last amount is 250 and 500. Perhaps its an administration thing I dont know. But perhaps the web page could say, (for example) 250-450 Gold. The the default is 250 and if you want to increase it to 300 or 400 you can just type it in.  It is possible that people might want to give more but not 500 but will choose the 250 because its the only option given to them.
Again I'm not trying to be critical, its really trying to keep SME healthy and active.

Thanks all

All suggestions are welcomed :)

Unfortunately we can only allow set amounts when using the donation "order" feature in the forum as well as only allowing two values i.e 25/250 and 50/500. You can always use the direct paypal option if the amount you wish to donate is not available but as you say you don't get the "banner" with this option but please be rest assured that the donation is greatly fully received and you can be at mind that you've made your contribution to keep SME healthy and active :)

We are always striving to improve contribs, so if we can offer a flexible donation so that you can type in the donation amount and receive the "banner" then this will happen but until then please every use the paypal donation link.

Thanks.

Thanks Byte,

Yes well I wondered if it was some Technical/Administrative reason.

Thanks and your welcome.

Happy to support something that is a real value for the dollar spent.
