[RESOLVED] Yum errors with Nov. 25 updates
« on: November 26, 2009, 08:52:27 AM »
I get a lot of error when doing a yum update for all the new updates. Seems some kernel related items are not exactly right. Has been verified on three different server that had all previous updates installed. Both server and server-gateway variants as well.

Rgds,
Jesper

Jesper, I am wondering if your issue is the result of the repos not being fully in sync yet, remember it can take 24 hours...  All the same, please raise a bug in Bugzilla as soon as you can, provide all the info you have (what is here) and mention that it may be similar to bug #5534.  Asking you question here would not be appropriate, however, you may wish to provide the output of rpm -qa | grep e-smith-base in you ticket at Bugzilla, igt may be relevant.
Thanks.

Note: please post here the reference to the bug you have raised for all to follow at BUgzilla, not in the Forums.

If it does not work out of the box, please fill in a Bug Report @ Bugzilla (http://bugs.contribs.org)  - check: http://wiki.contribs.org/Bugzilla_Help .  Thanks.

I know that I really should post these problems here but since it will effect so many of use I decided to anyways - sorry.

Anyways, the update completes and the servers actually reconfigured and booted just fine.

Thanks for the super expedited action!

No apologies necessary Knuddi, it is in the open now, not a bad thing at all. Thanks for pointing this out so early.
If time allows, have a look at te test attachd to my ticket and post in Bugzilla the result of the test at the end of the page, it would be interesting to know of your modules have installed OK as mine appear to have.
Thanks and regards.

Note: we will update this topic as soon as the issue is identified /confirmed by one of the Devs.

On the contuary, I search the forum first when something "odd" happens to see if it has been seen before and if there is a solution and/or bug report. I serch the forums first rather than bugzilla as bugzilla is not user friendly and I think the search in bugzilla only looks at the titles not in the comments or bug description.

I have also reproduced the myriad of "WARNING: Can't read module..." errors on applying the updates via the Software Installer web interface. Off to look at the bug filed against this.
Cheers
Dave.

This issue has been resolved.

This is only log noise, as also shown in messages log file.
This is due to the way the kernels are now updated, in future updates this will
not be visible or logged since the newer kernels have now been installed.

I think the search in bugzilla only looks at the titles not in the comments or bug description.
No it does not it searches for your input in the following fields:
  • product
  • component
  • summary
  • whitebaord
  • comment

And you can always use the advanced search option to look into comments as well. Besides the forum search option has been changed to also search the wiki and the bugtracker.
