Topic: Cannot get login prompt for server-manager & certificates

For all the time I have been using SME's server-manager, I bring up the server-manager page, https://MyName/server-manager, I see a "There is a problem with this website's security certificate." error, I continue using "Continue to this website (not recommended)" and I get a login prompt to the server-manager. 

Two questions:

First, how do I get rid of the security certificate warning.

Second, on a new, second SME installation, I can't get my login prompt.  After I continue to the website after the certificate warning, I get a 403 error with the probable cause "The website requires you to log in."  How do I get the log in prompt that I am getting in my other installation?

All this in IE8 and no success either in Firefox.

Install it in your browser. It depends on your browser on how to do this. Google should get you started.

FF should work, as I use it all of the times, IE8 I am not sure off.

Here is what the problem was.  I use Smoothwall and this system is on another subnet.  I added the subnet that I am calling server-manager from in the "Local Networks" part of "Security" in the Links access to server-manager and I can get in now.

The odd thing is that the other older installation doesn't include this subnet in the same security setting and I can get in fine.

You may want to look into this -- it implies that something in the SME security settings is not set as you expect.

If the SME is protected by the Smoothwall, and not visible to the Internet, there may be nothing to worry about. 

If your earlier SME is visible to the Internet, you probably want to figure out if /server-manager is also accessible from the Internet - then decide whether to leave it that way, or change it.

I love SME because the devels seem to worry as much as I do about security -- so as long as I leave the defaults alone, I can expect to remain secure.  I think long and hard before changing any of the SME default security settings...

Thanks, I will keep an eye on that.  This older installation is SME 8 Beta and is due for uninstallation anyway.
