New Install on New Server Hardware
« on: January 14, 2010, 11:11:25 AM »
Hi,
Wondering if anyone has used the "Hewlett Packard ProLiant ML115 G5" server for running SME.  Hardware specs are:

AMD Opteron Processor
2 x 1Tb Samsung Hard Drives
nVidia NFP3400 chipset
4 port SATA Controller with Embedded RAID
NC 105i PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller

States its compatible with Redhat Enterprise Linux and SuSe Linux Enterprise Server

HP SPEC LINK: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/sm/WF06a/15351-15351-241434-3328424-3328424-3683705.html

Any advice would be really appreciated before I part with the cash for this.

Many thanks

Graeme

LOL, I don't think so, nor does it show everything ;-)

4 port SATA Controller with Embedded RAID

AIUI, that's a fake raid controller, and you might see problems unless you set Native Mode to SATA and disable RAID in the BIOS.

Just to add, that we received the new server and the install went perfect, even issues we had previously with accessing shares has gone, could'nt of asked for it to go any easier.

Just a thought ........

As this is going into a site to service only a handful of users, and will ONLY be a file server, is their any mileage in installing Ver 8 (I realise its Beta) ??

What benefits is there with Version 8 over 7.x ??

Many thanks for such an excellent product, and first class support.
