I have a Dell server running SME7.4.  I would like to run the Dell Diagnostics on the server from time to time, but it requires an x-console.  Is there a way to accomplish this?

Do an advanced search on these forums on X-Windows for previous answers. Generally speaking it's not a good idea as you will likely introduce security risks. See my signature box for search info.

Please search before asking, an answer may already exist.

Dll Online Diagnostic package is available in command line only version:

Why do you want to run Dell Diagnostics from time to time? Is this a precaution, or are you having some problems?

I am having a intermittent problem.  The error was on the LCD screen "E123F VDD 12V ps1 pwrgd  ps2 pwrgd" for a week or two, then we went through a power outage for 3 days and when the server came back up the error was gone.  The server performed normally the whole time with the error and after.  I asked Dell for an explanation, but they won't talk until I run their diagnostics.  I am getting the feeling that I am better off leaving a working server alone, but I do not like to leave errors unresolved.

Thanks for your input!

Judging from this (http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pe2970/en/hom/about.htm#wp1096182) and your described symptoms you most likely have some issues with the power supply or the bracket they are mounted into unless you or some one else has removed the power supplies intentionally.

Although the error code E123F you mention is not listed the error description is:
Quote
E1232
VDD 12V PS# PwrGd
The specified power supply has failed or has been removed from the bay while the system was on.
