I have a shockwave executable (an .exe file). Can I place this on my E-Smith server so that when people click on the link to it, it will play automatically? Thanks.

I am pretty sure that the only way people could view this file is if they download it from your server. So basically you would just put a link to the file and when someone clicks on it a download window will pop up. To run shockwave files in the browser you need the actual shockwave file not an executable.

It depends where the people are. On your LAN, the ibays are available as network drives to Windows PCs, and from Windows Explorer people can click on the file and it will execute on their machine.

From the outside world, the ibays are only available as web pages. It is up to the web client software being used whether
executables can be run by clicking on a link. I think that
Internet Explorer will download Windows executables and run them and Netscape will require you to download and save the .exe file, then run it.
