Hi Ive posted this in the contribs forum and here in the server forums becuase the problems i beleive are related. :-)
Problems:

1. Some users that i have setup are not viewable via the panel and also cant access via horde.- i cant reinstall user as the server recognises the username as current yet not displayed in the list of users. Ive checked via command line for users in /home/e-smith/files/users and the user is listed??? How can i remove the user and reinstall him?

2. How to restore my mysql databse.

after repairing some repository update issues with my server ive now lost my database for my websites i host. I have a backup of the entire server using dar but am unsure how to restore it. I'm a little hesitant  to restore the whole backup it over my production machine as it may change some of my settings in the repository which resolved some clamav update issue i was having. Thing gave me a heart attack when I updated the box as it "cardiaced" when i rebooted. Its up and running now but Ive lost my database. It also does not display and current users in the panel that I have recently setup. It resolved my clamav issue and also updated much of the system.
What is the best solution- restore the database for the websites separately or do a complete restore from the backup using dar from the web browser??

Hope this is clear... :-P

Please don't, keep relevant information together, this way it is easier to track and follow.

Due to the amount of questions, mainly due to lack of knowledge on how to properly manage your SME Server IMHO, I suggest you start by reading the documentation (at least twice).

Also state every thing that might be relevant, like the use of lazy admin tools and the steps you took to resolve your issues as that might help others to help you. Do not make us guess or think for you, state the facts so we can go from there.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than its worth ~ Baz Luhrmann - Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)
