Squid or Dansgaurdian Access log view
« on: May 07, 2010, 06:28:51 AM »
Hi

I am using SME 7.4 with Dansguardian for web filtering, I needs to know what is the best way to monitor live my users that which sites they are visiting.

Regarding Log analysis when i checked my Squid Access log and Dansgaurdian Access log what I find that both log files has huge size (About 300Mb) so very difficult to sort result as per my requirement as for example I wants sort/see last 3 months history of any specific IP so how it can be possible because current file has record on daily bases so how to get required data from these huge list.

Please also guide that what should be maximum size of cache and log files to keep server in optimum condition and it these any contrib for SME server manager to control/optimize cache for best performance.

I found this advance log analyzer, can any one tell how can i install it on My SME already running dansguardian.

Or any other solution?

Regards
MSK

Hi.
Have you had a look a Sarg http://wiki.contribs.org/Sarg
or
Surftracker, http://wiki.contribs.org/Surftrackr (unfortunately no longer in development)
While they may not be in realtime / live you can in the case of sarg run a command to get current one shot stats

I would also remember to the OP that in some countries (Italy for sure) such a kind of monitoring is illegal ;-)

I am using SME 7.4 with Dansguardian for web filtering,

Off-topic for this forum, then, which concerns only software installed from the SME server CDROM.
