I successfully installed and ran SME 512 on a Pentium 300 without n e problems, however I have not been able to get it to work on a new P4 1.8GHz or Celeron 1.2GHz system, both have Asus motherboards with video and audio on board, 40GB 7200RPM Seagate HDD, i have tried 3COM nics and Surecom with realtek chipset(which works on the Pentium 300), Installs fine, picks up the nics, configures ok,  and boots to console. But I cant ping the server or access the server manager with a browser.

i had the same problem as you, all that i did was take a backup of the old server version 4.x and everything worked fine, no clue why. i tried everything and that seemed to work.

Managed to fix it using an older network adapter. Thaks for your reply.
