mppe_compress[0]: osize too small (SOLVED) - Bug 5982
« on: May 27, 2010, 07:30:41 PM »
Hello all.

I just upgraded a SME Server 7.4 to version 7.5.

After the usual reboot procedures, I made a SSL-connection to the machine just to check things up.

I found this worrisome line in the messages log being repeated over and over:

Code: [Select]
May 27 19:23:14 server1 kernel: mppe_compress[0]: osize too small! (have: 1416 need: 1420)
May 27 19:25:01 server1 last message repeated 76 times

What is this?

Anyone?

EDIT:

...as usual, I try to answer my own question  8)

The machine I use to establish the connection from is an Ubuntu Linux. I went into the settings för VPN and found the the parameters for MTU and MRU happened to be set at 416.

So I changed this to 420, made a new connection to that server just to find out that the "errors" seems to be gone...

For some reason I've never seen this behavior while making connections to the 7.4 systems, but I might as well be blind, who knows?

Anyway, thanks for your attention  :)

While you are at it exchange your keyboard as well, it seems the 1 is not working anymore ;-)

I assume you have set it to 1420 instead of 1416 instead of the 420 and 416 you mention, right?

Well, you're right of course. I can't blame the keyboard though, look: 11111111111  :-?

I have the same problem, only, mine says that it needs 1504. How is this possible when 1500 is the max? Is there any way to suppress these errors or to manually set the MTU and MRU settings manually in the pppd.conf file (Or where ever its set)?

Thanks!

Joe
