Low-cost, compact SME hardware platform

I typically install SME on a new or used PC. Recently, I've been shopping for a new hardware setup. I want two instances of SME running on two servers to provide primary storage and backup storage (using SME's backup feature). The general purpose computers that I would buy would cost me around $350 each. Since I want server-only mode, I wondered if I could use the Western Digital My World (

) platform to load and run SME. Has anybody thought about doing this or actually done it? The entry-level, 1TB version is $149!
