Topic: Init: Id "1" Respawning too fast

After a shutdown, I am no longer able to boot my SME server.

When I boot, there are the usual lines until:
- Entering runlevel:7
- Entering non-interactive startup
- Init: Id "1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
The respawning message continiues every 5 minutes

From the /etc/inittab i read the line
1:123457:Respawn:/sbin/e-smith/console tty1

I have tried to enter interactive startup, but no matter how many i's or I's I enter I do not succed.

A Google search on respawn returns a lot, but I understand too little of it related to my boot problem.

I am running SME version 7.4 on a VIA EPIA-SP8000E motherboard

Is the error related to a HW problem, meaning a new MB would help?
Would a reinstall/update with a 7.4 iso image help


I can boot the server with a live ISO (tested Knoppix and Opensuse). USB-mouse, keybord and the graphics work fine. Internet connection works too.

Oops, must have been mixing up stuff, however this still should be reported in the bug tracker as stuff like this should not 'just' happen.
