Does anybody know if the e-smith mail server can work as an internet mail server using @home, with an address like "user@mail.cr654321-a.yec1.on.wave.home.com" or even better "user@mail.24.2.9.33" ?
@home has "BY FAR" the worst mail servers on the planet, and I would love to not have to deal with them AT ALL.
is this nutz ?

Set up a free account with yi.org, and get a static hostname for your machine.  IIRC, e-smith supports yi.org out of the box.  Then, you'd have user@mymachine.yi.org.

Could try the penguinpowered.com/linuxstart.com too...
Same service as yi.org or dyndns but with some choice of DNS extension...
provide e-mail fowarding too!
problem is still always long dns query on isp provider...
tcheck for it with good firewall...pop3 server ip with ssh ;)
