good morning, I am new on linux sme server, I have just installed the sme server 7.5 for my office, but the does not connect to the internet and sharing for other computers on the network. please someone help me solve this problem.

i configured to local area connection eth0
dhcp
IP 192.168.1.1
Netmask 255.255.255.0

eht1 this is a external interface wish i use to connect to the internet.

during the first boot after setup you've been asked for some parameters.. having your server 2 nic, you should have choosen £server and Gateway" mode, did you?

can you please give us more info about your lan, ip adresses etc? thank you

please take some time to read the Documentation; read it twice

First NIC SME recognized as local area conection
Eth0
IP 192.168.1.1
SubNet 255.255.255.0

eth1 is recognize as extenal interface wish i use to conect with dsl modem
ip 172.16.1.2
subnetmask 255.255.255.0

ok..

did you setup your gw? it should be something like 172.16.1.X (X<>2)
did you test internet connection via admin console? (log in as user admin)
did you give your client pc an ip like 192.168.1.Y (Y<>1) setting their gateway to 192.168.1.1?

yes i did, and i tried to format the operating system and install again but always report

";; connection timed out; no servers could be reached"

please help me, i would like to use this server because i think is simple to manage.

Did you configure your modem/router in bridged mode, which is appropriate when connecting to a SME configured for gateway server mode,
or
is your modem/router still in normal router mode (which is not so appropriate when SME is configured in gateway server mode) ?

yes i configured, and i tested with another server ubuntu is working very well, the problem i want to emigrate to SME server and is give that problem.

Did you change the configuration of your modem/router to bridged mode ?
