Dell PowerEdge 2850 going slow
« on: October 16, 2010, 07:59:16 AM »
Hello friends.
Now I've got fingers in a newer server (Dell PowerEdge 2850) and thought that now things are going strong, but no it does not
After installing sme7.5.1 on the server, it takes 5 minutes to transfer 9mb.
Can it be true, I sides just beside it, it was faster to move the file onto a usb and then over the server.
does anyone have an idea.
Sincerely yours, kim Jessen GB

Tell us more about how you are transferring the data - winscp? ftp? samba? other?

Make sure you are not somehow transferring the data off-site then back on-site (laptop with mobile internet -> SME public IP, for example).

Look at /var/log/messages* for info on the link speed your SME is using, or for any other hardware configuration problems.

You can find your physical link speed using something like:
Code: [Select]
grep Link\ is\ up messages*

Many thanks.
studied your suggestion and it works now I move 850Mb in 30sec.
it should be ok.

I have another problem.
I use the server in an existing network as a file server.
I can find the server if I force the ip ADR.
but I can not mount the drive.
I can see the server but when I want to see what drives are on the server, I the are not going any longer.

See graphics for better understanding.

Sincerely yours, kim Jessen

Hi Kimjessen

You cannot directly add an image to contribs.org forums - you'll need to use something like photobucket and post a link to it back here for people to see.
