Rar for Backup in place of Dar
« on: December 09, 2010, 05:38:44 PM »
Darrel used to have a backup with RAR - does anyone know if it would still work with SME 7?

With the current Dar backup our server is timing out before displaying any files to restore, we have over 140 Gigs, same if we try to do a verify, it does over 200 of 700 meg files plus index - I only hope the full backup works.

Currently I am also doing a Windows Winrar backup to a workstation of our Data - but not the basic server or email as this is our only way to retrieve individual files when needed and in case the full Dar backup is also not working then this will get us by.

Hey Ken,

Great questions.  AFFA just saved me a whole lot of time.  Take a look at that.  It works slick and is completely granular.

You could also look at a rsync file store solution for the data only.  I think something like rsnapshot.  I stumbled on that one day googling around looking to get some options.

AFFA and rsync... that is the ticket.

Boy, I am no guru at this stuff.  I'd be real into what the head dingo's have to say.
