Running Windows using VMWare
« on: January 07, 2011, 01:01:39 AM »
Hi

I have a installation Windows XP running on SME 7.5 with Vmware Server 2

This work fine - hardware is basic 2Gb RAM, Athlon 2.7Ghz Processor
I think I need to BEEF-UP the server Spec

I need to provide support a couple of home based workers running a Windows based accounts system.

Has anyone using a Terminal Server product like http://www.elusiva.com/default.aspx
which allows multiple users to login simultaneously??

Putting in a dedecated Windows box to do this might be a bit political!!

Anyone know if SME Server can make use of multicore processors and say 8Gb RAm??

SME works fine with multiple processors/cores, just make sure it picks SMP kernel on the first boot. 8GB RAM is not a problem too.
I have SME servers running on 8 and 16 CPUs and with 8GB RAM. Ont he server like that, few XP desktops will work very fast with remote desktop clients.

Moving to General Discussions where it is most likely to be more appropriate.
