Topic: Australian language (sound) pack

I've found a fantastic person to record some messages for my asterisk system and was thinking she would do a great job recording an Australia sounds pack for Asterisk/SAIL.

Is anyone interested in this and would they be willing to chip in? I can post some samples of her work if you are interested - just let me know.

She is a 23yo Australian single mum who is a lovely person and who, as a single mum, could always do with some extra cash.

To the SARK Dev team do you have a script you used to record all your messages, ie. a list of the recordings needed?

Is there really no one interested in an Australian sound pack? I want to put one together and to make it available to the SME/Sark/Asterisk communities.

I will pay for the vast majority but would appreciate it if people let me know if they are interested too (and even chip in) or am I just wasting my time?

We've not done it.  However, we can probably tell you which sounds SAIL uses, although we'd have to figure it out.  As a minimum, you would need all of the voicemail sounds (the all begin VM), numbers, days, months (date and time) and the stuff we use.

Thanks for that, most helpful. I was hoping that you had a "script" of sorts with all the word and sentences needed and their respective filenames. I will have to generate something like that to give to the person I have in mind for doing the recordings.

Still I need to hear from others who are interested in this. I hope that a couple of Australian users will find this thread and contribute in some way.

I just want to produce an Australian sounds pack and to make it available to the Asterisk/SAIL community. I'm not sure how much this will cost me as I haven't negotiated it yet as I'm seeking interest from the community. If someone would like to contribute any money at all the would be appreciated (though hold onto it for now), just let me know.

I can make available some examples of the person I mentioned above who I would like to use to record the Australia sounds.

Just keep us in the loop. As Jeff said it will involve all the phrases but once the recording technique is worked out it would flow from there.

In addition, you'll need all of the voicemail sounds (they all start vm-) and you'll probably need the conference bridge sounds.   So, although there are a lot of Asterisk sound files, you probably don't actually need that many to provide a working Aus/SAIL pack.

Are you in Sydney?  If affirmative, I can probably help with the mechanics of recording the material + editing + formatting.  I have access to some audio facilities within the Community Radio sector in Marrickville or Burwood, cost will be minimal.  You would need to identify all items required etc before recording, this is the hard part I think.  Recording is reasonably straight forward once you have identified items + labels for the files.  Lets discuss.

If you need any backup on this let me know. I am not in Sydney but do have a local semi commercial radio station client who does use Sail. They may also be interested in the Australian suite or even doing something along their own "local" style.
