Hello there

Running 7.5 on my SME Server so I wonder, will I need to make any changes to it to allow my users on my network to access IPV6 sites.

Forgive me if I appear ignorant but if I don't ask, I'll not know!

The SME Server will need IPv6 support and here is the relevant NFR raised.

Absolutely no idea at all! Knowing that "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing" I elected to defer to the specialists on the forum to direct and advise.

I saw email recently about the proposed switching to IPV6 in July so I used http://test-ipv6.com to see what would happen and got these results:

Your IPv4 address on the public internet appears to be 92.27.148.44

You have no IPv6 address. [more info]

World IPv6 day is June 8th, 2011. No problems are anticipated for you with this browser, at this location.

You appear to be able to browse the IPv4 internet only. You will not be able to reach IPv6-only sites.

Your DNS server (possibly ran by your ISP) appears to have no access to the IPv6 internet, or is not configured to use it. This may in the future restrict your ability to reach IPv6-only sites. [more info]

Yes, please do a search in the forums, this has been answered a few times the last few months. In short providers might not be able to register blocks but it does not mean that there are not a lot of free/unused IPv4 addresses available in the already registered and assigned blocks.

Apart from that, if you would have read to the bottom of your test report you should have seen this:

Don't stress too much on having an IPv6 address in 2011. If you do buy a new router, make sure that it will be IPv6 ready (or upgradable) when your service provider does offer IPv6.
